WND named national green and low-carbon demonstration park

Wuxi National Hi-tech District was named one of the 12 national "green and low-carbon demonstration parks" on a list recently released at the 6th China International Green Innovation Development Conference in Xiamen on Sept 7.

In recent years, WND has continued to work on high-quality development, while also prioritizing ecological benefits through green and low-carbon measures.

WND also strives to build a "6+2+X" modern characteristic industrial cluster based on innovation. The output value of strategic emerging industries, high-tech manufacturing, and high-tech industries accounted for 49.7 percent, 52.5 percent, and 68.5 percent of the total industrial output value above designated size respectively.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) period, a total of 102 energy-saving and circular economy projects, as well as 80 contract energy management projects were carried out in WND. The district's energy consumption per-unit of GDP was reduced by 18 percent in total. Four national green factories and three national green manufacturing industry projects were also approved.

The district has built 75 parks, afforested more than 260 hectares, and built 1.8 million square meters of green space. Its air quality continues to improve.

WND will also build a zero-carbon technology industrial park as an important measure to promote green and low-carbon development. According to the plan, it is estimated that clean energy will account for 60 percent of Wuxi's power generation by 2025.
