A service window for foreigners working in China was put into service in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province on April 28.

The service window, which streamlines processes across multiple governmental departments, including public security bureau and science and technology bureau, makes it more convenient for foreigners to handle administrative matters.

Li Wangfei, an agent of SK Hynix Semiconductor (China) Co Ltd, which employs 200 to 300 foreigners, said he is delighted with the service window.

According to Li, the service window will reduce the time required to process work and residence permits as well as other matters from eight to three working days.

Wuxi is home to a large number of companies that hire foreign workers. There are presently more than 7,600 foreigners living in the city. In 2021, the city was included in the list of Chinese cities that have been deemed most attractive to foreign talent.

According to a staff from the municipal public security bureau, the service window is expected to serve more than 1,000 companies and over 4,200 foreign employees in Wuxi per year.
