WND releases five-year plan for scientific and technological innovation enterprises

Wuxi National Hi-tech District released an action plan of scientific and technological innovation enterprises on May 30.

According to the plan, WND will strive to invest at least 3 billion yuan ($445.48 million) in enterprise support funds each year for the next five years, cultivate a total of 30 listed enterprises on the science and technology board and 300 such enterprises in reserve. After five years, the number of high-tech enterprises within the validity period in WND should reach 3,000. Over 3,000 technology-based small- and medium-sized enterprises in WND are expected to pass the evaluation by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

WND boasts rich resources in scientific and technological innovation and talent. The total social R&D investment in the district accounts for 4.6 percent of GDP, ranking first in the city in terms of intensity and at the forefront of the province's development zones. The district has a total of 294,000 talents. The number of listed national-, provincial- and municipal-level talent projects has ranked first in the city for four consecutive years.

In 2021, WND attracted 2,450 new technological companies, bringing the number of national high-tech enterprises in the district to over 1,000 for the first time. WND became one of the top 20 national high-tech zones in the country for the first time.
