Unmanned logistics vehicles operate in WND

Jiangsu JD-Link International Logistics Co Ltd is piloting intelligent logistics vehicles in Wuxi National Hi-tech District, Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province.

Wang Xiaohong, deputy general manager of JD-Link, said that 6.7 square kilometers in the WND Integrated Free Trade Zone serve as the enterprise's testing area for the first commercial application of their unmanned logistics vehicles in China.

Due to rapid economic development, storage and logistics have become crucial for enterprises, especially those engaged in manufacturing, to improve efficiency and lower costs.

Intelligent logistics is connecting storage with production lines by reshaping the logistics and storage sectors of the intelligent manufacturing in Wuxi, a city with an advanced manufacturing industry.

Some enterprises in the FTZ have started upgrading their equipment in storage and unloading to adapt to changes.

The 9.6-meter-length unmanned vans operated by JD-Link are currently responsible for delivering raw materials and components to electronics manufacturer Jabil, improving the enterprise's cargo handling efficiency by 70 percent.

Last year, Wuxi became the pilot city for promoting the coordinated development of smart city infrastructure and intelligent connected vehicles.

Four hundred and fifty kilometers of road in the city is equipped with internet of vehicles infrastructure, which displays real-time information on signal lights, traffic flow, and accidents.

The city also has six feeder routes with automated driving and one such logistics route. The 1.16 million square meters of roads in Xishan district is now served by unmanned sanitation vehicles.
