Wuxi issues first integrated social security card with work permit for foreign nationals

Wuxi recently issued its first social security card integrating a foreigner's work permit, along with a simultaneously activated digital version.

The landmark card was received by Yamaguchi Kazutaka, a foreign expert at KMK Technology (Wuxi), based in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, at the ICBC North Changjiang Road branch.

"With this one card, I no longer need to carry my work permit, passport, and bank card separately. The card can be used for everything from medical treatment and prescription purchases to public transport and card payments. I can also access and manage many services on the digital platform," said Yamaguchi.

By integrating foreigner's work permit information directly into the social security card, the initiative allows foreigners working in Wuxi to enjoy the same services as residents. It significantly improves convenience in daily life, travel, and consumption, and marks another step forward in optimizing Wuxi's business environment and attracting global talent.

Foreigners newly arriving in Wuxi or already working in the city can apply for the integrated social security card with a valid passport or permanent residence ID at the ICBC North Changjiang Road branch or the Bank of China Wuxi branch. The physical card is issued on the spot, along with an electronic version.
