The Wuxi Symphony Orchestra celebrated its second anniversary with a charity concert titled The Melody of Growth on June 14 at the Wuxi Xinwu Government Affairs Service Center, offering a visual and auditory feast to local music enthusiasts.
The concert was divided into two halves, featuring a diverse repertoire blending Eastern and Western classics with continuous surprises. The first half presented innovative crossovers, with marimba playing lively rhythms, a woodwind quintet offering a humorous touch, a brass quintet creating a relaxed ambiance, and the orchestral ensemble conveying an ethereal beauty.
The second half was full of highlights. The strings in Wuxi Overture rippled like the surface of the canal, while the brass section mirrored the grandeur of Taihu Lake, painting the scenery of Jiangnan through music.
As Yungong Xunyin played, memories of the classic 1986-version of Journey to the West were evoked. The familiar melody, combined with electronic remixes and symphonic music, excited the audience.
The orchestra brought the concert to a close with Happy Birthday to You. Audience members raised their voices in song, and in that shared experience, language fell away as music erased the boundary between stage and seats.
Founded in June 2023, the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra is a young and vigorous symphony orchestra in China, with its first performance held in January 2024. Over the past two years, it has held a variety of concerts, collaborated with numerous domestic and international artists, engaged in cultural exchanges worldwide, and conducted many cultural charity activities.
Moving forward, the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra aims to remain committed to its core values of artistic excellence, youthful vitality, and global vision, composing new chapters in symphonic innovation.
