The Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, also known as WND, welcomed a delegation led by Jeon Seon-kyu, chairman of South Korea's Mico Group, on Nov 7. The company signed an agreement to establish its China headquarters in WND on the same day.
The project includes an additional investment of $30 million for the launch of a new coating project.
Mico Group is South Korea's largest semiconductor parts cleaning and coating enterprise, focusing on semiconductor and display equipment components, precision cleaning and coating services, and solid oxide fuel cells. The group established KoMiCo Technology Wuxi in WND in 2005.
Jeon noted that over the past two decades in Wuxi, the group has benefited from the city's strong industrial ecosystem, efficient government services, and vibrant innovation environment. Wuxi has become a key base for the group's development in China.
He added that Mico Group will continue to deepen its presence in the Chinese market, leveraging the industrial cluster of WND and strengthening coordination between R&D and localized manufacturing, to contribute to regional economic and social development.
Sun Wei, vice-mayor of Wuxi, said that South Korea is among Wuxi's most important sources of foreign investment, and the establishment of Mico's China headquarters aligns with the city's efforts to build a competitive integrated circuit industrial cluster.
