Lear, a global leader in automotive seating and electrical and electronic technologies, signed an agreement on Dec 23 to establish its Asia-Pacific Operations Headquarters for Thermal Comfort Systems in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, or WND, marking the start of a new phase in the company's regional expansion.
With more than a century of industry experience, Lear has grown into one of the largest automotive parts suppliers in the United States. The new project will focus on the research, development and production of innovative products such as seat lumbar support, massage and ventilation systems.
Charles Chang, president of Lear Asia-Pacific, said that Wuxi's strong industrial ecosystem and high-quality business environment have strengthened the company's confidence in the long-term development of its Wuxi base.
He noted that the Wuxi base will also house Lear's China Technology Center for Thermal Comfort Systems, supported by well-equipped laboratories. The company aims to develop the site into a benchmark smart manufacturing facility in the region.
Cui Rongguo, Party secretary of WND, said the district will offer its full support to ensure the smooth and rapid implementation of the project. He expressed a desire for deeper cooperation with Lear on more new products, as both sides work together toward shared growth and mutual benefits.
