  • The 2026 "Two Sessions" of WND were held from Jan 12 to 16. Deputies to the WND People's Congress and political advisers from all walks of life came together to discuss key issues, review annual reports, and vote on major matters, pooling wisdom and strength for the high-quality development of WND.

  • WND leaders visited key venues and projects in the Wuxi Economic Development District on Jan 11-12, including the Wuxi Olympic Sports Center, MixC, Pioneer Semiconductor Research, Kelvin New Energy Technology Wuxi, and K11 Select, to gain firsthand insights.

  • As integrated development between the WEDD and WND gets underway, an entrepreneurs' forum was held on Jan 16. The integration is a major optimization in resource allocation and promotion of coordinated growth across the city. With stronger synergy, businesses are encouraged to seize the opportunity, build on momentum, and create new achievements from this fresh starting point.

  • A drone industry ecosystem is taking shape in WND. An integrated counter-drone R&D and manufacturing base will be established here, alongside new fund partnerships and an international drone sales platform, adding fresh momentum to regional innovation and industrial growth.

  • WND signed a deal on Jan 9 to launch a micro-drama cultural and creative industry park. Co-developed by Wuxi Hi-Tech District Commercial & Culture Tourism Group and Poly Digi-Entertainment, the project will roll out in phases, building a full-chain ecosystem covering incubation, filming, post-production, support services, and compliance.

  • Hongda Electronics signed a deal on Jan 13 to build a power device chip manufacturing base in WND through its subsidiary. With a planned investment of 1 billion yuan ($143.5 million), the project will strengthen the district's integrated circuit ecosystem and provide reliable, homegrown core components for electronics and high-end equipment.

  • WND released its 2025 government work report on Jan 14. Focused on building new growth drivers and a stable, inclusive society, the district met its key economic and social goals, delivering a strong year defined by a solid performance and a sense of unwavering resilience.

  • Built by the Wuxi Artificial Intelligence Industrial Park, the Magic Cube Space OPC Community offers a full-support launchpad for digital-age entrepreneurs. The first group of startups has already joined, spanning data security, AI consulting, smart campuses, drones, PV operations, chip design, and open-source intelligent computing.

  • At the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, three companies from WND – XREAL, Autolink, and Favored Techs – showcased innovation and clear paths to commercialization that caught worldwide attention.

  • The Phase III of Wuxi International Life-Sciences Innovation Campus in WND passed final inspection on Jan 16. Covering about 100,000 square meters, it is the city's first dedicated park for synthetic biology, offering an all-in-one setup for R&D, pilot testing, offices, and daily life.

  • The Jiangsu Enterprise Confederation recently released the 2025 list of the province's top 100 service enterprises. Nine companies from WND made the list, the highest number citywide, underscoring the district's momentum and commitment to high-quality growth in the service sector.

  • China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently unveiled its 2025 list of model metaverse cases. The Taihu Bay Sci-Tech Innovation City Metaverse Industrial Park in WND made the cut, one of just 11 nationwide and the only one from Wuxi, highlighting its strong overall competitiveness.

  • Wenbo Experimental Middle School in WND, Wuxi, picked up gold at the 2025 London Design Awards in the Architectural Design – Educational category. This accolade reflects greater international recognition of the school's innovative design concept, spatial planning and functional excellence.

  • At the fifth session of the 2nd WND People's Congress, deputies voted on the 2026 key livelihood projects. Covering eldercare, education, healthcare, transportation, and the environment, these initiatives focus on what matters most to residents.
