Wuxi Symphony Hall has entered into a strategic partnership with the UK's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, representing a significant step forward in China-UK cultural exchange.
The cooperation memorandum was signed on Jan 30 in Beijing during the UK-China Business Forum, making it the sole outcome in the cultural sector.
The agreement secures the launch of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's China tour in 2026 to mark its 80th anniversary, featuring world-renowned violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. It also outlines a three-year framework for deeper collaboration, including artist residencies, joint creative projects and large-scale music education programs.
Sarah Bardwell, managing director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, characterized the partnership as a long-term dedication. "It goes beyond performances. It is about investing in the future with our Chinese partners and nurturing the conditions in which classical music can truly flourish."
