  • Stellantis, the world's fourth largest automaker, signed a memorandum of understanding with WND and Miracle Investment Holding on Feb 10, launching its micro-mobility venture in Wuxi. Marking the first Fortune Global 500 manufacturing project to establish operations in Wuxi in nearly two years, the collaboration will combine Stellantis' global network alongside Wuxi's strong supply chain and cost efficiencies to build a thriving, high-performance micro-mobility industry ecosystem.

  • A delegation from SK Group visited Wuxi on Feb 9. SK Hynix Semiconductor China has completed seven rounds of investment in Wuxi, totaling more than $23 billion, making it the largest single foreign-invested project in Jiangsu and SK Group's biggest investment in China. The 3-billion-yuan ($434.42 million) SK medical complex project includes the 500-bed SK Wuxi Hospital, which is expected to be finished this year. IRCAD China, co-founded by SK and France's IRCAD, is already in operation in Wuxi as China's first private medical training institution specializing in surgical robotics.

  • WND officials led inspection teams to sites including industrial facilities, hazardous materials transport firms, fireworks retailers, commercial complexes, and passenger transport companies to conduct safety checks on Feb 11. They called for heightened vigilance during the Spring Festival holiday, tighter safety controls, and round-the-clock emergency preparedness, ensuring residents can celebrate in safety and peace.

  • WND and WEDD officials visited more than 40 experts and professionals to extend holiday greetings ahead of Spring Festival. Additional relief supplies and financial assistance were also delivered to families in need, helping ensure a safe, warm, caring holiday for all.

  • A New Year gathering for foreign-invested enterprises was held on Feb 10 in WND. WND and WEDD, which has been integrated into WND, reported solid gains in opening up in 2025. WND reported total imports and exports of 451.9 billion yuan ($65.37 billion), a 14.8 percent increase year on year, with its share of the city's total rising from 51.3 percent to 54.5 percent. This figure ranked among the top three at the county level across Jiangsu province. More than 100 new foreign-invested enterprises were established during the year, marking the highest number in the city. WEDD reported 6.71 billion yuan in imports and exports, added 25 new foreign-funded companies, and registered 10 outbound investment projects.

  • A symposium for private entrepreneurs was held in WND on Feb 12. Private enterprises in WND generate 40% of the district's GDP and tax revenue, provide around 60% of local jobs, account for over 80% of patents and technological innovations, and represent more than 90% of high-tech and listed companies — serving as a vital pillar of WND's economic growth.

  • WND held its annual Innovation Exchange Centers review on Feb 12. In 2025, overseas centers in Japan, South Korea, Germany, and Singapore helped seal 28 projects and $47.3 million in foreign investment, while domestic centers in Beijing, Yangtze River Delta, Greater Bay Area, and Xi'an attracted 209 projects and 18 industry-university-research collaborations.

  • Lead Intelligent Equipment went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Feb 11, becoming Wuxi's 29th HK-listed company. The listing provides a stronger capital platform for global expansion, tech upgrades, and supply chain growth, boosting the company's international influence.

  • Deep Blue Aerospace's Nebula-2 rocket hits a new milestone: its Thunder-RS LOX-kerosene engine, the most powerful pintle-type engine in China with 130 tons of thrust, completed full-scale ignition tests lasting five and 40 seconds, advancing the rocket's propulsion system into a fast-paced engineering validation stage.

  • WND reached a new milestone, with 12 local companies named national green factories on the 2025 list released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The district now counts 3 national green industrial parks and 24 national green factories, underscoring its commitment to greener, high-quality development.

  • To welcome the Chinese New Year and boost a strong start to Q1, WND has rolled out measures to promote consumption, support enterprises in stable production and operations, and stimulate a vibrant local market.

  • The "Tonghong Care Fund" was launched in WND on Feb 9 through a partnership between the Xinwu District Charity Federation and the father-daughter duo Zhou Hongwei and Zhou Shutong. The fund, established in a family's name, received its first donation of 50,000 yuan ($7237.13) from young Zhou Shutong's personal savings, earmarked to support vulnerable residents in Xin'an subdistrict.

  • As the Year of the Horse approaches, WND and WEDD glow in festive red. Lanterns dangle from tree branches, and vibrant decorations brighten the streets, filling the city with Chinese New Year celebrations.

  • The long-awaited Wuxi Olympic Sports Center is now fully into interior finishing, exterior and outdoor works, and sports facility installations, gearing up for completion this year. Ahead of the Chinese New Year, Metro Line 6's Olympic Sports Center station has been topped out.

  • The new Yunfeng Station, an arts landmark at Bodu River Park, is now complete. The site will feature a book cafe, light dining, and other amenities to enrich the riverside experience. The landscaped park and smart restrooms are ready for opening after the Spring Festival holiday, and commercial spaces are now welcoming tenants.

  • The startup-themed mini-series Beauty Industry Chronicles, co-produced by the Publicity Department of the CPC (Working) Committee for Wuxi National High-tech District (Xinwu District) and Wuxi Broadcast Television Group, premiered on Feb 9. The series features local entrepreneurial stories and showcases inspiring examples for entrepreneurs across China.
