A signing ceremony for Walvax Biotechnology's new base for foods for special medical purposes (FSMP) was recently held in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District (WND), marking a new milestone in the district's efforts to strengthen its life and health industries.

Walvax Biotechnology is one of China's leading pharmaceutical companies engaged in the research, production and sale of human vaccines. Building on its strengths in the vaccine sector, the company is further expanding its presence in the broader health industry by developing an industrial base in the FSMP sector.

Under the agreement, Walvax Biotechnology will work closely with leading industry partners to build professional teams with a focus on technological innovation and market expansion.

Once operational, the project is expected to attract high-quality upstream and downstream resources, further strengthen the local biopharmaceutical cluster, and support WND's goal of becoming a globally competitive hub for biopharmaceuticals and precision nutrition.

Li Yunchun, chairman of Walvax Biotechnology, said WND has long attached great importance to the development of the FSMP industry and has built a sound industrial ecosystem, professional support services and a business-friendly environment.

He said the district's forward-looking planning and sustained investment have been highly encouraging, adding that the company is fully confident in its future development in Wuxi.
