A high quality project matchmaking and exchange event was held in the WND on April 28. During the event, Bank of Communications launched a new cultural tourism financial product. Five projects, including HHAN·Suzhou Yangcheng Peninsula Theme Park, Nayun Resort·Clifftop Sky City, Mingling Yaohu Town (Phase I), Wuxi Taihu Bay International Culture and Arts Center and Wuxi Symphony Hall, and Ehu Tourist Resort, conducted roadshows and shared their construction experience.

To celebrate the upcoming 136th International Workers' Day on May 1, WND held a themed event to extend festive greetings on April 27. Leaders of the district visited an exhibition showcasing the achievements of model workers and craftsmen, and paid their respects to the newly selected recipients of the National May 1 Labor Medals, as well as provincial model workers and advanced individuals.

WND officials led teams to conduct workplace safety inspections from April 28 to 29 at shopping complexes, major factories and enterprises, the district safety control center, and tourist attractions before the May Day holiday.

A delegation from Huzhu county, Haidong, Qinghai province, visited the WND from April 27 to 28 for exchanges. On April 28, a joint meeting on collaboration between the WND and Huzhu county was held, during which the Qinghai Huzhu Plateau Strawberry Promotion Base in WND was inaugurated. The district also signed agreements for industrial cooperation projects with Huzhu county in sectors like education, employment, commerce, agriculture and technology.

A conference on WND's Taihu Lake water pollution prevention and the river and lake chief system was held on April 27. The conference implemented directives from provincial and municipal authorities, analyzed the current situation, assessed key tasks, and made further arrangements to ensure a safe summer for Taihu Lake while achieving high-quality water quality goals.

Huaqin Technology, the parent company of Wuxi Ruiqin Technology, has been listed on the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing. Headquartered in Shanghai and strategically supported by WND, Huaqin Technology completed its capital layout in both A-share and H-share markets, marking a new stage of its international growth and adding another major achievement to the high-quality development of WND's sci-tech innovation industry.

XREAL, a globally leading smart glasses company with production base in WND, has been named a 2026 gold winner at the Edison Awards for its XREAL One series AR glasses, recognized for breakthrough innovations in spatial computing and optical technology. Following its 2025 gold award win at the Edison Award for its self-developed X1 chip, XREAL has once again reached the forefront of global innovation, consistently leading the AR sector with its strong technological capabilities.

Wuxi Acme Pumps Co Ltd in WND has been eligible for a tax credit for direct investment with distributed profits by overseas investors, becoming a direct beneficiary of China's new tax incentive policy on the reinvestment of foreign profits. This is also a benchmark case for WND in driving high-quality foreign investment and delivering business-friendly policies.

The WND Intellectual Property Promotion Week was launched on April 28. In 2025, WND held over 21,400 valid invention patents. Among them, more than 16,500 were high-value patents, up 21.5 percent year-on-year and accounting for 77.3 percent of the valid patents.

April 24 marked the 11th Space Day of China, under the theme "A Seven-Decade Celestial Path, A Shared Cosmos Faith". On that day, the China Space Conference 2026 kicked off at the Century City New International Convention & Exhibition Center in Chengdu. Jiangsu Deep Blue Aerospace, a commercial space company from WND, made a strong appearance with its "Nebula" reusable liquid-propellant rockets and Thunder series of liquid oxygen kerosene engines. It celebrated alongside industry peers the 70th anniversary of China's space industry.

The 2026 National May Day Labor Awards were unveiled on April 28, with two individuals from WND receiving National May 1 Labor Medals. The 2026 list of model workers and outstanding employees in Jiangsu province was also announced, including eight from the district.

One Thought, an AI ink-wash short film by Hedi Technology from WND, has won the Best AI Short Film (China Region) at the 2026 World AI Film Festival. Entirely generated by AI in traditional Chinese ink-wash style, the dialogue-free film uses minimalist imagery to capture an Eastern philosophy — the line between good and evil can hinge on a single thought.

WND has welcomed seven new regional debut stores this spring. From rising yogurt brands to popular tea chains, from healing-style restaurants to creative fusion dining spots, each brings a fresh concept and adds a new destination worth exploring.

WND adds a new green space called Link · Xi, which opened on April 30. Launched alongside it was Flooow, a cafe by the park's river, ready to welcome your visit with a cup of coffee.
