  • Construction on the first phase of the Wuxi Computing Equipment (AI Infrastructure) Industrial Park began on May 6. As the country's first industrial park dedicated to computing equipment, the project has a planned area of around 1,000 mu (about 66.7 hectares). It is expected to generate an annual output value of 120 billion yuan ($17.6 billion). The park aims to establish a full industrial ecosystem covering the design, research, development, manufacturing, sales and delivery of modular AIDC (Automatic Identification and Data Capture) systems and components. Agreements for several AIDC projects were also signed.

  • The 2026 Taihu Bay Future Healthcare Conference opened on May 8, bringing together leading forces from government, industry, academia, research, healthcare and investment. Over three days, the event will feature nine forums and six matchmaking sessions focused on innovation, clinical application, product commercialization and ecosystem building — fueling new momentum for the high-quality development of the healthcare sector.

  • WND and China Pharmaceutical University took their collaboration to a new level on May 8 with the launch of the China Pharmaceutical University Wuxi Innovation Institute. Focusing on frontier fields such as innovative drug development, cosmetic science and functional foods, the institute creates a new hub for biotech innovation, technology commercialization and talent attraction in Wuxi.

  • At the 2026 New Protein Industry Ecosystem Development Conference on May 8, experts from government, industry, academia, research and investment gathered to explore cutting-edge technologies and commercialization pathways for next-generation proteins. The event also marked the launch of the Scientific Framework for New Proteins and Consensus on Microbial Protein Science, and unveiled the 2026 China New Protein Innovation Development Index (Wuxi Index).

  • The second-phase MCampus Metabolic Industry Park roadshow spotlighted new technologies on May 8. Through partnerships with AstraZeneca China and Academician Ning Guang's team, WND has launched a series of major projects, including the AstraZeneca China Healthcare IoT Innovation Center, a healthcare industry fund, the Ruijin Yangtze River Delta Health Research Institute, and a standardized metabolic disease management center.

  • WND is pressing ahead with major industrial projects. At the district's monthly coordination meeting on May 5, district officials reviewed project progress, mapped out next steps, and rallied efforts to keep attracting investment and construction so as to stay on track for a strong second quarter — building momentum for high-quality growth throughout 2026.

  • The 2026 Wuxi Open lit up the night on May 4 at the Wuxi International Tennis Center. As one of China's top-tier ATP Challenger Tour events, it brings 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams into a $177K battle, with 100 ATP points awarded to the champion. With rising Chinese talents sharing the court with global Top 200 players, the tournament is fast becoming a proving ground for the future of men's tennis in China.

  • Ancient-town strolls, lakeside escapes, immersive cultural shows and trendy holiday experiences turned WND into a top May Day holiday destination! During the five-day break, local attractions recorded more than 1.08 million visits, up 11.18% year-on-year, while cultural and tourism spending climbed 37.80% to 147 million yuan ($21.59 million).

  • Nearly 3,000 homebuyers visited sales centers across 31 residential projects in WND during the May Day holiday, with 216 homes sold and total transaction value approaching 600 million yuan ($88.21 million) — accounting for nearly one-third of Wuxi's citywide total. Talent housing vouchers and upgraded living demand continued to drive the market's vitality.
