The China Pharmaceutical University Wuxi Innovation Institute was recently inaugurated in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, also known as WND.
Focusing on cutting-edge fields such as innovative drug development, cosmetic science, and functional food research, the institute aims to become a key source of innovation, a fast track for technology commercialization, and a strong talent hub for Wuxi's biopharmaceutical industry.
At present, the institute has launched nine technology projects, secured one provincial-level R&D program, and signed five technology development contracts with enterprises and institutions, totaling 9.1 million yuan ($1.33 million).
During the launch, the Wuxi branches of the China Pharmaceutical University Concept Validation Center and Technology Transfer Center were also unveiled. These two platforms will provide full-cycle support for emerging sectors, including innovative pharmaceuticals and high-end medical devices.
A three-year action plan between WND and China Pharmaceutical University was also released. Under the plan, the two sides aim to implement eight national and provincial major science and technology projects, develop 20 new products, obtain 40 new invention patents, incubate 10 technology-based SMEs, cultivate 40 high-tech enterprises, and jointly train 180 postgraduate students.
In addition, a 200-million-yuan technology commercialization fund has been established. The fund will provide targeted financial support for tech enterprise incubation, technology pilot testing, and the commercialization of innovative achievements.
