WND held a review meeting on Aug 16 to assess its response to Typhoon Dolphin, identify areas for improvement and strengthen emergency preparedness. The district will further improve its emergency response system to better protect lives and property when severe weather strikes.

A matchmaking meeting was held on Aug 14 for twenty officials from Jiangnan University, Wuxi University, and Wuxi Vocational College of Science and Technology who are heading to the front lines of development in WND. They will take on practical roles at government agencies, subdistricts and State-owned enterprises, bringing universities and the local community closer while working together on talent development, resource sharing and growth.

WND held a meeting on Aug 18 to advance the development of new-type R&D institutions, with a focus on strengthening their role as drivers of innovation. The move aims to put these institutions on a more sustainable growth path and provide stronger support for the district's drive toward greater technological self-reliance.

A WND government delegation visited Beijing from Aug 18 to 19 to promote investment and attended the 2026 World Robot Conference. The delegation met with leading companies specializing in integrated circuits, smart mobility, advanced equipment, AI and cloud computing to explore new opportunities and advance potential projects.

DreamWld Tech signed an agreement to launch its AI-powered multimodal 3D video large model headquarters in WND on Aug 19. The project, the first of its kind in Jiangsu, will connect animation production, AI, and IP development, bringing together talent and resources to build a complete AI animation ecosystem in WND.

WND officials visited leading companies in Taihu Bay Sci-Tech Innovation City on Aug 20 to learn more about their operations, technological development, production capacity and growth plans. They also listened to companies' needs and worked on solutions, helping businesses stay focused on their core strengths and improve efficiency.

Senior executives from Siemens Energy visited WND on Aug 19, reaffirming the company's long-term commitment to the district. The company plans to bring in new resources and further expand its investment in Wuxi, strengthening its role in the district's continued economic growth.

The 2026 IC (Wuxi) Innovation and Development Conference will be held from Aug 31 to Sept 2. WND will host a packed lineup alongside the conference, including a high-level forum, two industry matchmaking sessions, a product launch and two parallel events focused on semiconductor equipment and materials.

WND is making a strong showing at the 2026 World Robot Conference, which opened in Beijing on Aug 19. Three local robotics innovators – Motorevo, Juxie Intelligent, and Dexterous Hand – have brought their latest breakthroughs, offering a glimpse into the future of smart manufacturing in WND.

Deep Blue Aerospace, based in WND, has successfully completed a 100-second hot-fire test of its 130-ton liquid oxygen-kerosene engine, Thunder-RS. The engine, developed to power Nebula-2, delivered a measured thrust of 1,297.5 kN, meeting all design targets and confirming the reliability of the engine system and the thermal protection performance of its thrust chamber.

Chengheng Microelectronics, headquartered in WND, has unveiled its self-developed CH37 series edge AI SoC, delivering up to 64 TOPS of AI computing power. Designed to process data from multiple sensors and fuse multimodal inputs, the chip provides the computing foundation for smarter devices that can continuously adapt and evolve.

Unitree Robotics made its debut on the STAR Market of the Shanghai Stock Exchange on Aug 19. Shang Capital, backed by Taihu New City Group, invested in Unitree through a sub-fund, taking an early position in the robotics company. The successful listing underscores Shang Capital's strong investment network, research capabilities and long-term approach to backing high-growth technology companies.

A love letter to Wuxi written in music! The Wuxi Symphony Orchestra will kick off its 2026/27 season at Wuxi Symphony Hall on Sept 26, featuring the world premiere of Wuxi Suite in its entirety. Created by eight acclaimed composers, the nine-movement work takes audiences on a journey through the city's past, present, and future.

The Wuxi Symphony Orchestra embarked on its 2026 European tour on Aug 18, bringing its music to Slovenia, Austria and Italy. The young ensemble will perform five concerts at four major international music festivals, including the Ljubljana Festival, Brahms Festival, Emilia Romagna Festival, and Tuscania Summer Festival. With youthful energy and artistic ambition, the orchestra is bringing a fresh voice from China's vibrant symphonic scene.
