WND students explore Greater Bay Area

Students from Wuxi Xinwu Experimental Middle School recently embarked on a six-day study tour, exploring the Greater Bay Area through a mix of cutting-edge technology, academic discovery and cultural heritage.

The journey began in Hong Kong, where the students visited the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and experienced the academic atmosphere and innovative spirit of a leading university. At the Hong Kong Science Museum, they discovered the wonders of science through interactive exhibits, while a visit to Hong Kong Disneyland offered the magic of fairy tales.

In Shenzhen, technology took center stage. At the education base of the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society (AIRS), students came face-to-face with technologies ranging from microrobots to modular self-reconfigurable robots.

The students also visited a DJI drone experience center, where they learned how drones are used in agriculture, emergency response, filmmaking and other fields before taking control themselves. They then teamed up for a competitive armored-vehicle challenge, putting their strategic thinking and teamwork skills to the test.

In Zhuhai, the students got an introduction to China's space program at the Zhuhai Space Center. Inside a 1:1 replica of the Tiangong space station, they explored simulated astronaut work, living and sleeping areas. They also tried a virtual spacewalk, took the controls of a C919 aircraft simulator, and enjoyed an interstellar cycling experience at a futuristic lunar base.

The final stop was Macao. Standing before the Ruins of St. Paul's, the students learned how the iconic facade is all that remains of the historic church after it was destroyed by fire. At the Macao Museum, they explored the city's history, culture, art and natural environment.
